Charges have been filed against the 25-year-old woman accused of fatally running over her 17-year-old boyfriend in the Bronx yesterday after a drunken fight over a broken iPhone. Jasmine Diaz was charged with manslaughter in the death of teen Frankie Hernandez, whom she started dating when he was 15; she was also charged for leaving the scene of a crime. “I heard the rubber burning and saw her just drive off,” Cesar Hernandez, the victim's brother, told the News. “By the time I got to him, he was trying to talk, but just bubbles came out of his mouth.”

The incident happened just before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning at the corner of Morris Avenue and 165th Street. Hernandez and Diaz got into a drunken fight after she accused him of breaking her iPhone—Hernandez's family says he accidentally dropped it. The two pushed each other, then Hernandez left; she allegedly followed him, got into her car, and mowed him down. Cesar Hernandez says he ran down the block to where Diaz lived, and pounded on the door: “I could hear her screaming inside, ‘I just hit Frankie. I just hit him. I don’t know what to do,’” Cesar said.

Hernandez's mother said the two had been dating for two years, since the boy was 15 and Diaz was 23. Before that, she was his babysitter: “They grew up together. He didn’t want to leave her,” she said. Diaz’s 18-year-old brother Joshua told the Post that his sister had recently lost her job as a security guard and was upset over her financial troubles. He also said she has a violent temper and that the couple had fought before: “But she’s got to be provoked. You can’t go next to fire and not expect it to get hot the closer you get,” he said.
