A man is accused of killing his wife after previously claiming she was shot by muggers in a Bronx park.

Police say that Jonathan Sanchez, 33, shot and killed wife Araceles Colon, 45, who was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital last night. Sanchez initially told police he and Colon were walking into Macombs Dam Park near Yankee Stadium at around 9 p.m. last night when three muggers tried to grab Colon's bag. Sanchez said when he tried to fight back, one of the muggers shot her in the stomach.

After Sanchez was questioned, though, he allegedly admitted to shooting Colon because she had been unfaithful to him.

Sanchez has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a firearm.
