Today at the Hudson Yards groundbreaking, Mayor Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn spoke to reporters during a Q&A. And, of course, everyone wanted to know about Bloomberg's alleged desire for Hillary Clinton to run for Mayor. According to Capital New York, Bloomberg was annoyed when he said, "Why do you think I encouraged Hillary Clinton to run for mayor? I mean, did you hear me say that?"
Then, when the Wall Street Journal's Michael Howard Saul asked if the mayor was underwhelmed by the 2013 contenders so far (who include Quinn, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, former City Comptroller Bill Thompson, current City Comptroller John Liu and former Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr.), Bloomberg said, "I don't know who's gonna run. But if you want to start a fight between me and Chris Quinn, you're not gonna do it. It's cheap, lousy journalism. This is a woman who's made a big difference in this city."
“I have run for mayor three times, successfully each one,” [Bloomberg] added. “I considered a fourth. Chris [Quinn] and I talked about it. She kept urging me to do it. But I said, ‘No. It’s enough.’ ”
The mayor was joking about running for a fourth term. As he did so, Quinn made a face and motioned with her hand to suggest Bloomberg was talking crazy.
HAHAHA! Fourth term jokes! Always brings the house down!
