Police are investigating after discovering a badly burned body in a vacant lot in Queens on Thursday afternoon.
NYPD officials said someone called 911 to report an unconscious, unresponsive person at the property near 139th Street and Hillside Avenue in Briarwood, near Jamaica.
When officers went to the scene around 4:20 p.m., they found the body of an adult male. EMS workers pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.
Officials said the city medical examiner’s office would determine when and how the man died.
He was not immediately identified as police worked to notify his family.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
