Did you see the map on local Weather Service website this morning? You do start your day by looking at their site, right? Anyway, the map doesn't show any advisories, watches or warnings of any kind for today. High pressure centered just to the southeast will bring us rather benign weather today and tomorrow. For most of us this afternoon's high will reach the mid 40s and tomorrow's should climb into the mid 50s. If you live close to a south-facing shore as the wind will be blowing off an ocean whose temperature is in the 30s.
The warm weather over the next few days should finally melt the remaining five inches of snow cover. Today is the 52nd straight day with at least an inch of snow in Central Park. That's the third longest streak ever. The longest being 60 days from Jan 16th to Mar 15th in 1920 (thanks Northeast Regional Climate Center!).
A cold front will arrive on Friday night. Before then the mercury will push 60 degrees under cloudy, and perhaps showery, skies. Behind the front we're in for a blustery, sunny, and cooler Saturday. Look for a high in the upper 40s. Temperatures will fall back to seasonable levels by the end of the weekend and there's some sort of rain/snow storm a brewin' for the early part of next week.
