From rallies for local police reform to protests against white nationalists, here's a roundup of some of the most notable opportunities for activism in NYC this week. As always, feel free to leave anything we've missed in the comments.
Councilman Jumaane Williams and the Ditmas Civic Club will host this rally for Flatbush residents who want to show their support for the victims of white supremacist violence in Charlottesville. Attendees are encouraged to bring signs and placards, and to share the event widely.

Last year, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito blocked a vote on police reform legislation called the Right to Know Act, which would have required police to get signed consent before performing searches for which they don't have a warrant or probable cause. The NYC chapter of the Democratic Socialists Of America is now working to revive that legislation, which is one co-sponsor away from a veto proof majority in the city council. On Thursday, the DSA will be leading a protest outside City Hall to demand that Mark-Viverito and Mayor de Blasio stop punting on police reform legislation, and to call on other councilmembers to support the bill.

Move New York Off Fossil Fuels Now!
Food & Water Watch is working to build a grassroots movement to "keep fossil fuels in the ground, stop dangerous pipelines and fracking infrastructure, and transition to 100% renewable energy"—and they want your help. On Thursday, the group will meet at the New York Society for Ethical Culture do their plans to move our state entirely off fossil fuels. Stand Up Against the Fascists: Solidarity Action with Berkeley
After counter-protesters vastly outnumbered white nationalists at a planned rally in Boston this weekend, another far-right protest is set to land in Berkeley, California next Sunday. A counter-demonstration is expected to greet the white supremacists, and organizers are calling for solidarity rallies in cities across the country. In New York, the anti-fascist rally is organized by members of the International Socialist Organization, who "want this to be as broad and large and representative as possible."
