A 45-year-old man was punched aboard a 7 train last week by a man who became violent because he believed the victim was filming him. The incident occurred on a Queens-bound 7 train at the 46th Street Station on December 22nd, at around 10 p.m. According to the NYPD, the attacker and another man were arguing—the victim was not involved in that dispute, but the suspect believed the victim was recording the argument with his cellphone, and struck him, knocking him to the ground.
The victim sustained a bruise to his head and bruising to his right arm.
Both the victim and suspect left the train at 46th Street; the suspect left the station with an unidentified woman, while the victim called 911. The victim refused medical attention.
The NYPD released cellphone video of the suspect, describing him as about 18-20 years old and 6' with a medium build and black hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a long white jacket.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
