A 64-year-old woman was struck and injured by gunfire while she was walking in Upper Manhattan on Monday afternoon, NYPD officials said.

The woman was near West 204th Street and Broadway in Inwood around 4:30 p.m. when she said she saw a group of young people walking nearby, according to police. One of them fired a 9mm round in her direction, which struck her in her left buttock.

The alleged shooter fled southbound on Broadway and the woman was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Officials said they’re still investigating the shooting and haven't made any arrests yet.

NYPD data shows shootings in the 34th Precinct, which covers Inwood and Washington Heights, have decreased nearly 60% this year through Nov. 23, compared to the same time last year. Seven shootings were reported in the precinct as of that date, down from 17 in 2024.

This story is based on preliminary information from police and may be updated.
