There are problems on the 6 line this morning (and the 4 and 5 as well) following an earlier incident at the Zerega stop in the Bronx. An FDNY spokesman says first responders were called to the scene at approximately 7:30 a.m. and one person was pronounced DOA. The unidentified man either fell onto the tracks or jumped, and may have been fatally struck by the train.

An NYPD spokesperson confirmed the death, adding that the individual was a Hispanic male. Neither the NYPD nor the MTA could confirm whether the man jumped or was pushed, and the death remains under investigation.

The incident has snarled subway surface throughout Manhattan. At 8:45 a.m. the MTA announced that there were no 6 trains between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester in both directions. "From Pelham Bay Park, customers are advised to use Bx12 or BX12SBS buses to Pelham Pkwy for 5 train service. From Burke Av or Middletown Rd, customers are advised to use Bx8 buses to Pelham Pkwy for 5 train service. Customers can also use Bx4 or Bx4A bus service which will make nearby station stops between Westchester Square and Elder Av."

We'll update as more information becomes available.
