Yesterday, three members of a Washington Heights family died after a horrifying crash on I-95 in North Carolina. NC authorities say the SUV blew a tire, making driver Rosanny Marte, 22, lose control.
The car flipped over and Marte's mother and grandmother, Angela Marte, 46, and Rosa Marte, 71, who were not wearing seatbelts, were thrown from the car and killed. Rosanny Marte also died and five other family members were injured.
The family had been heading home after visiting Disney World in Florida. Witnesses said the car had been swerving and speeding but one told WCBS 2 the tire was definitely blown, "As soon as that tire hit the grass on the median, it started to flip ove. The people out there were trying to get the children to lay still. They were trying to get everybody to lay still."
