Are you ready for the most consequential general election of our lifetimes—which also happens to be occurring during a global pandemic? If you need to brush up on some details our new, comprehensive 2020 Voter Guide for New York and New Jersey, from WNYC/Gothamist, City Limits, and Gotham Gazette.
Enter your address and you’ll find everything that will be on the ballot in your district, including overviews of key races and profiles of all the candidates in them.
KEY DATES
Voter registration:
New York: October 9th, online/postmarked by/in person
New Jersey: October 13th, online/postmarked by/in person
Early voting
New York: October 24th-November 1st (hours and locations)
Absentee ballot deadlines
New York: You can request one until October 27th, but request it sooner as USPS is unpredictable. It must be postmarked by November 3rd; you can also return it in person at a polling site. (You can also track your NYC ballot here.)
New Jersey: You can request one until October 23rd, but request it sooner as USPS is unpredictable. It must by postmarked by November 3rd; you can also return it in person at a polling site, a local Board of Elections office, or at a secure drop box. (You can also track your NJ ballot here.)
Election Day, November 3rd!
New York: Polls are open, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
New Jersey: Polls are open, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
