2006_04_syankeeslogo.jpgThe Yankees won their second series of the year by beating the Orioles 7-1 on a day better suited for football than baseball at the Stadium. The win brings the team a game over .500, the best they have been since starting the year with a victory in Oakland.

The victory was important, but more so were some of the questions it answered. First and foremost, Randy Johnson showed that he is healthy. Johnson was dominant giving up only three hits, all to Miguel Tejada the only Oriole to get a hit all day, while striking out five.

While Johnson was shutting down Baltimore, Jason Giambi was providing the offense. Giambi, who doesn’t like to DH, hit two home runs and drove in five runs as the DH on Sunday. Since Giambi’s glove is terrible, moving him to DH would help the Yankees defense and allow someone else to play first, perhaps Andy Phillips or the newly acquired Carlos Pena.
