Marian Gaborik struck with 46 seconds to go in regulation to draw the Rangers even, but a Nate Thompson goal 19 seconds into overtime cost the Rangers in a 2-1 loss to the Lightning. Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves, but his counterpart, Cedrick Desjardins, was even better with 34.
Martin Brodeur gave up three goals in the first eight minutes to get chased, and it was all downhilll from there in the Devils' 6-3 loss to the Hurricanes. The Devils have lost 10 straight on the road and 13 of 16 overall. Patrik Elias had a goal and an assist in the losing cause.
Nine third-quarter points helped doom the Nets in a 103-88 loss to the Timberwolves. Sasha Vujacic came off the bench with 22 to lead the Nets, who have lost five straight.
