- Rockies 4, Mets 1: The thin air of Denver will not be missed by the Mets. Sunday's loss was their second in three games there and their sixth in seven games overall. John Maine was inefficient, needing 121 pitches to scrape through six innings. Jose Reyes didn't help the cause by committing an error on a double-play ball that preceded a Seth Smith three-run homer, the game's big blow. Manager Willie Randolph may have some bigger problems. After beating the Yankees twice, the Mets looked terrible through four games in Atlanta then lost two of three to a Rockies team that was trotting out what amounted to a Triple-A lineup. Despite general manager Omar Minaya's words of support, the skipper will meet with Fred and Jeff Wilpon in New York on Monday. He shouldn't feel too secure given the way the team, now two games under .500, is playing.
- Yankees 6, Mariners 5: Joe Girardi must thank his lucky stars every night for the Seattle Mariners. The Yankees completed their second three-game sweep against the Mariners in two weeks with a come-from-behind win Sunday at Yankee Stadium. Chien-Ming Wang wasn't sharp at all and pitched one more inning than he should have, but an eighth-inning rally capped by a fluke Jose Molina double helped the Yankees win their fifth straight. They travel to Baltimore for a Memorial Day matinee Monday.
- Fire 5, Red Bulls 1: Maybe Juan Carlos Osorio should avoid suspensions. The New York coach had to watch from a luxury box as his team got demolished and had its five-game unbeaten streak snapped.
- Shock 72, Liberty 62: Imagine how ugly this game would have looked if the Liberty didn't outscore Detroit by 15 in the fourth quarter. This game was over from the start as Detroit cruised to 19-6 lead at the end of the first. Tiffany Jackson had 12 points in the loss.
