- Yankees 6, Red Sox 5: Alex Rodriguez really makes himself the center of attention, doesn't he? The Yankees third baseman hit a go-ahead home run off Jonathan Papelbon in the top of the ninth to give the Yankees a comeback win in Boston. The Yankees blew a 4-0 lead and trailed, 5-4, entering the eighth, but they managed to win the game and the series in Boston. They're still 12 1/2 games out of first place, but at least they showed some fight Sunday. Roger Clemens hopes to start Saturday at home against Pittsburgh, but an MRI on Monday will shed light on what the Yankees are calling a "fatigued groin."
- Diamondbacks 4, Mets 1: That Endy Chavez, Ben Johnson and Carlos Gomez outfield combination doesn't seem to be working that well. By coupling that alignment with a few innings of inconsistency from Oliver Perez, the Mets got a loss in the rubber game against the hottest team in baseball. Perez has looked like a success for pitching coach Rick Peterson this season, but the lefty had a pair of bad innings Sunday at Shea. When Perez keeps his walks down, he can be a good to great pitcher in the National League. He didn't against Arizona, and the Diamondbacks made him pay.
- Liberty 83, Mercury 82: Another game, another win for the Liberty, now 4-0 on the season. This time it took Jessica Davenport's three-point play in the final 10 seconds. She was one of four players in double figures.
