Today has been the coldest Valentine's Day in New York City history, so even if your heart is bursting with boundless love for a special someone, there's a good chance your heart is also beginning to show signs of frostbite. Luckily nothing warms the extremities and soothes the soul like a nice, stiff drink. Here are four events that will help you shake off the cold and rekindle your love of liquor.
Chinese tea may be a non-alcoholic drink, but on Monday night you'll be able to center yourself with a class on just about everything you need to know about the world's second-most popular beverage. Tea Drunk will provide you with centuries-old wisdom, knowledge, and samples of green, white, yellow, wu long, red, and black tea, and you'll also learn how to properly handle teaware.
Come Tuesday, get your Wisconsin on with a beer and cheese dinner at Murray's. You'll get to sample German smoked Rauchbiers and and sweet triple cremes—six beers in all, each with their carefully-selected cheesy mate. This is what true love tastes like.
Drink for a great cause at Whiskey Wisemen's upcoming #ThirdThursday Tasting. This time the group is taking over SingL Lounge at the Hyatt Union Square and offering up free tastes of Tatoosh Whiskey for anyone who's already purchased one drink. Ten percent of every bill will be donated to Transfernation, which donates leftover foods to the hungry, so pour it down the hatch and do some good.
Top it all off on Saturday with the fifth annual Eat, Drink and Bloody Mary throw-down, which will bit bloody recipes from DBGB, Blue Smoke, L'Apicio, Booker + Dax and more against one another. Brunch snacks will be on-hand, and you'll get the chance to vote for your favorite crimson concoction. When bartenders compete, you win.
