Williamsburg's dense artisanal ice cream scene is about to get even thicker with the debut of Van Leeuwen's new outpost on Wythe Avenue at North 5th. The exemplary ice cream makers are opening their new flagship scoop shop tomorrow but are celebrating with free scoops tonight from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The free scoop deal is a nice upgrade from their usual opening deal, which typically offers $1 scoops as opposed to a gratis serving. The shop was scooping their limited edition Black Sesame flavor last night but the team isn't certain yet which flavors will be on offer this evening. Their trucks and shops always have a good variety of interesting flavors, including plenty of vegan options for those eschewing dairy.
