To mark the occasion of its first spin around the sun, Coney Island Brewery will spend Saturday and Sunday throwing itself a birthday bash that's conveniently timed with National Root Beer Float Day. They'll be whipping up ice cream creations using their hard root beers, cream sodas and the like (see above) on Saturday, with tours of the brewery on Sunday. They'll also be pouring a keg of Bourbon Barrel Aged Hard Root Beer, which has been aging inside a few Bourbon barrels for the past four months.
The Hester Street Fair observes Jamaican Independence Day on Saturday with all-day music from Rockers NYC, Deadly Dragon, Queen Majesty, and Damon Degraff and plenty of dominoes to go around. Spur Tree will be cooking up $10 plates of Jerk Chicken, Salmon or Curry Tofu served with Rice and Peas and Pineapple Salsa and if you buy your plate in advance, they'll throw in a free beer.

Kettle Black (Yelp)
Head to Staten Island's Flagship Brewery on Sunday for their second annual Wing Fest, beginning at noon inside the brewery's taproom and their adjacent parking lot. Swoop in for $6 pints of beer plus wings from 12 SI and nearby restaurants including Pier 76, Kettle Black, Afternoones and The Hop Shoppe. There'll be a selection of different types of wing sauces, including some made with Flagship's beers.
