The Queens International Night Market we hoped would land in Flushing Meadows Corona Park is becoming a reality! Creator John Wang and his team have announced that they'll put on their inaugural market this Saturday, April 25th, as planned in the parking lot of the New York Hall of Science beginning at 6 p.m. Though their Kickstarter campaign ultimately wasn't a success, the team has found other funding sources that allowed them to keep prices low for both the vendors and the visitors.

It'll be a relatively small affair compared to the big plans Wang envisioned when he decided to bring the night market concept to NYC. There will be about 25 food vendors—and we're told the list is still growing—selling "Nagoya chicken wings, grilled squid skewers, takoyaki balls, tapioca bubble coffee, arepas, Burmese iced desserts, palata, choclo, Ecuadorian juices, and mini cakes."

Vendors were selected whose food was "culturally authentic" and represented "as many different cultures and regions" as organizers could find. As of now, there's no license for alcohol.

Wang hopes a successful first run will mean subsequent Night Markets throughout the summer with an even more diverse lineup of food, art and merchandise for sale. Entry into the market is free, so it'll only cost you the $2.75 fare on the 7 train, which lets visitors off just a few blocks away at 111th Street.
