A who's who of northern Brooklyn eateries and bars will be on parade this Saturday at the annual TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint tasting event, whose proceeds benefit the Northside Town Hall Community and Cultural Center, an advocacy and community center for the neighborhood. On the waterfront at North 8th Street, sample eats from restaurants including The Elm, Antica Pesa, Maison Premiere and The Brooklyn Star, plus sips from Brooklyn Brewery, GuS Grown-up Soda and The Natural Wine Company. Nearby Rough Trade NYC curates the live music, with selections from Ben Fields, Jack + Eliza and Son Little. Tickets run $25 for 4 food tastes and 2 drink tastes or $45 for 8 food tastes and 4 drink tastes. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Pop-ups are a popular atmosphere for innovation and culinary exploration, as with this Sunday's Project Sara, a dinner devoted to discovering the "essence" of an ingredient. The 5-course dinner for 36 diners includes dishes prepared by three chefs of varied backgrounds riffing on ingredients like eggs, black cod, kale and squid ink. Billed as an anti-restaurant event, expect an evening of culinary ingenuity with more fluidity than your typical sit-down dinner.
Speaking of interesting ways to eat dinner, Washington Market Tavern has debuted a Sunday Supper Club featuring an astonishing 12 courses of locally prepared fare. The meal, which includes ingredients like Bluepoint Oyster's, Foie Gras, Caribou Moss and American Wagyu Ribeye, will be accompanied by complementary wines and spirits to further enhance the flavors. The meal runs $250 per person; reservations can be made by calling the Tribeca restaurant at (646) 964-4860.
