It seems like just yesterday everyone was freaking out over Williamsburg's first Starbucks, but now the Bushwick/Bed-Stuy area is about to get its second Starbucks, and I didn't even know it had a first one. Either I'm losing my touch, or Brooklyn is. (It's probably Brooklyn, but also maybe me.)

The Commercial Observer reported yesterday that a Starbucks is set to open at 774 Broadway, at the former home to Fat Albert’s Warehouse, the neighborhood's one-stop-shop for kitchen gear and clothing.

The new Starbucks is slated to open sometime in 2018. "This is a strong market in Brooklyn,” a Starbucks spokesperson told the site. "It is a high-density area within the retail corridor for the Bed-Stuy market, adjacent to a regional hospital [Woodhull Hospital] and near the subway, all which help drive traffic for our stores. We are also expanding our presence in Brooklyn and this is a market not currently served by our brand."

This Starbucks is technically in Bed-Stuy, though some Bushwick residents might consider it their own. Another Starbucks opened off the Myrtle-Wyckoff stop, also technically in Ridgewood, in 2015—just as the imminent arrival of a Chick-fil-A in Manhattan rose to its fever pitch. So far, there is still no Starbucks in Bushwick proper, exceeding the Times' 2009 prediction that Bushwick was still five-plus years from getting its own omnipresent green mermaid.

As for the Banksy-themed building, well, the Times never saw that one coming.
