In keeping with the tasty recent trend of popular Smorgasburg vendors opening brick-and-mortar eateries—Briskettown, Mighty Quinn's and Bunna Cafe, to name a few—schnitzel sandwich makers Schnitz have launched their brand new East Village establishment today.

EV Grieve reports that the Schnitz crew's opened on 177 First Ave at East 11th Street, and they'll be serving an ever-widening selection of fried chicken cutlets, pork loin and pickled veggies sandwiches made with a twist. They've also got beer and wine on tap, along with shrimp schnitzel (appropriately dubbed the "Lt. Dan," $11) and butternut squash and corn schnitzel ("The Yonz," $7) for the herbivores.

Right now they're mostly running counter service, though you can still snag one of a few tables. Expect Henry Kissinger to pop by sometime.
