It's been a while since we last talked about ramps... too long. So we were happy to find an announcement in our inbox regarding the 2nd annual Ramp Fest! Save the date: it's going down May 5th in Hudson Valley.
This "gastronomic event" will celebrate all things Ramp, with the seasonal treat "at the center of original dishes created by super-talented chefs from upstate New York and the big city. Participating restaurants include: Swoon Kitchenbar in Hudson; Fatty Crab and Fatty ‘Cue in NYC; Sfoglia in NYC; Another Fork in the Road in Milan, NY; Cookshop in NYC; Hundred Acres in NYC; DA|BA in Hudson; Truck Pizza in Hudson," and more. On top of the dishes, there will also be drinks and music—can we rename it Rampapalooza?
We're told that according to the "myth, mystery, and folklore of the central Appalachian Mountains, mountain folk have long celebrated spring with the arrival of the curious ramp, believing it to have great power as a tonic to ward off many ailments of winter."
The whole thing goes down from noon to 4 p.m. that day, at the Basilica Hudson, a 19th century industrial factory transformed into an event and festival space. And lucky you, it's located across the street from the Hudson Amtrak Station, so the only question left is, are you ready to make a two hour journey for the festival de RAMP?
"Prices include all the ramps you can stand!" Adults for $20, kids under 10 for $10. Get your tickets now before you're thrown into the underbelly of the ramp fest ticket scalping world.
