Restaurant and wedding venue New Leaf Restaurant & Bar shuttered this week after 13 years in Fort Tryon Park, and now local chainlet Coffeed has announced they'll move into the space this year.
DNAinfo reports that the coffee shop and cafe, which has locations in Long Island City, Astoria, Chelsea and on Staten Island, will open at 1 Margaret Corbin Drive in the spring. "It’s a beautiful building in a beautiful park and we know that Coffeed will be a great partner,” Sam Biederman, a spokesman for the Parks Department, told the website.
New Leaf shuttered on December 29th, after it was announced that the eight-decade old building in which it is housed needed to undergo extensive repairs. The New York Restoration Project, which ran the restaurant, deemed it too expensive to keep the restaurant open thanks to the building restoration bills.
Coffeed will continue to host weddings in its space, and Frank Raffaele, the company's founder and CEO, says he plans to lower prices to make the venue more accessible to New Yorkers.
