Since few things sound more beautiful than the marriage between alcohol and the lethal, sharpened blade of an ice skate, the new Prospect Park skating center is planning to serve beer and wine at its in-house cafe. You can sign up for ice-skating lessons here, and for tourniquet-tying classes here.

The Daily News reported today that Bluestone Cafe, the eatery at Prospect Park's new LeFrak Center, has applied for a liquor license. The cafe reportedly hopes to serve beer and wine on the premises, located just feet away from frozen pools of ice filled with wobbly children on skates.

It seems like Bluestone's aim is to get the booze going by spring, whereupon the ice rinks turn into slightly less-deadly roller-skating rinks. "It’s a pretty good idea,” one Prospect Park-goer told the tabloid. “During the summertime people want to have fun and relax outside with a glass of wine or a beer.” Sure, it's all fun and drunk games until Bill Belichik loses an eye.

Upsilon Ventures, the company that manages the center, did not respond to our request for comment. The cafe's liquor license application has reportedly been approved by Community Board 9, and is waiting for approval from the State Liquor Authority.
