Someone in the Girl Scout operation really earned their Spin Badge! The new cookie being offered up this year is being pitched as healthy and delicious... but is it, Troop Leader? The new Mango Creme cookies are packed with something called NutriFusion™, which is described as "real food," and "a gift from nature."
According to the Scouts themselves, one bite will make you "feel like you’re on a tropical island," and they note the treats "combine a crispy cookie with the taste of mango." There are no trans fats, hydrogenated oils, preservatives, or mangos... but there are vitamins, and other things that have no business being inside of cookies. According to one report, "bakers used Nutrifusion to 'supercharge' [the cookies] with nutrients from rehydrated apples, oranges, cranberries, pomegranite, limes, strawberries and shiitake mushrooms." We'll hold out our judgement until we try these for ourselves, but will say that whoever crafted the Thin Mint would have never allowed this to happen. "This" being MUSHROOMS IN COOKIES.
As for the nutritional breakdown, one Mange Creme contains 60 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, and 3.6 grams of sugar. In comparison, one Caramel deLite (née Samoa) packs a fairly similar 65 calories, 3 grams of fat, and 6 grams of sugar.
