There are few things more satisfying on a steamy summer day than a hearty ice cream sandwich, and we are suckers for that perfect combination of creamy cold and chewy crunch. As you no doubt know, today is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day (Observed). To guide you in the festivities, we've rounded up five great spots—some offering special deals today—where you can celebrate that holy union between the Earl of Sandwich and the Queen of Cream.
'Wichcraft, the sandwich spin-off of Tom Collichio's Craft restaurants will give you two 'wiches for the price of one today at the 'wichcraft Ice Cream kiosk in Bryant Park. Featured today is the strawberry ice cream between two peanut butter cookies, and the mint chocolate chip ice cream between two chocolate cookies. A full price sandwich will normally run you $3.90, so this deal makes it almost TOO easy to inhale both specials!

If you still haven't had a chance to check out Jacques Torres Chocolate's seasonal ice cream flavors, now is the time to make your move. The chocolatier is offering 20% off the regular $5.50 retail price of all ice cream sandwiches purchased today at any of their six locations.

(Coolhaus)
Build your own ice cream sandwich today at either of the two Coolhaus locations. The truck will be at Union Square from 11AM to 10PM, but sandwiches are also being slung at the cart location at 80th and Central Park West from 11AM to 6PM. Endless combinations can be made with their enormous selection of cookie kinds and ice cream flavors, including newly introduced ice cream, Fried Chicken and Waffle. So that's what $6 a sandwich will get you: options. Delicious, delicious options.

If you're looking for more classic ice cream sandwich flavors, like, you know, vanilla and snickerdoodle, we are happy to refer you to meltbakery. Find these $4 'wiches in their store on the Lower East Side or at their vendor location on the Highline. Or get them gratis—Melt just announced they're giving away "free ice cream sandwiches to the first 100 people that come by the LES shop and Tweet / Facebook about us!"
132 Orchard Street
Last but not least, we salute what has been heralded by the Internet as the "White Whale" of ice cream sandwiches, and we can confirm that Peter Pan Donut and Pastry Shop does indeed have a donut ice cream sandwich. Behold! The summertime treat consists of a generous scoop of ice cream gently placed between two halves of any of the shop's wide array of donuts. Only $4.75 for the most mouthwatering cardiac arrest.
