Though some of us are still struggling to digest the ill-advised, suspicious deli noodles we ate at midnight last night, now's as good a time as ever to note that a new week dawns—and with it comes a slew of tasty and educational food events. Here's what's on tap:
On Tuesday, the 92nd Street Y is hosting famed meat man Pat LaFrieda and his father, Pat Sr., to discuss the family's storied meatpacking history. Post-talk, LaFrieda will be signing copies of his new cookbook, Meat: Everything You Need to Know, a carnivore-friendly collection of recipes sourced from the LaFrieda family archives and major meat chefs from across the country. The event runs from 7 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. and costs $30 to attend; get your ticket online.
Also on Tuesday, Yunnan Kitchen on the Lower East Side is throwing a lantern-lit Mid-Autumn Moon Festival feast. The $65-per-person meal features six celebratory courses, with dishes including Pu'er Tea Smoked Duck, Crispy Sea Bass & Snails and Steamed Golden Squash—and naturally, the feast tops out with traditional moon cakes. An additional drink pairing costs $20; you can make a reservation through the restaurant.
And on Wednesday, Midtown steakhouse The Palm is kicking off a special Wine Dinner Series series dubbed Barolo, Truffles & The Best of The Alps, featuring a four-course dinner paired with wine offerings from Piedmont winemaker Ceretto. The $175-per-person dinner includes dishes like Espresso Rubbed Carpaccio of Beef Tenderloin, Nova Scotia Lobster Pasta and a Black Pepper Crusted Prime New York Strip. Wednesday's dinner, which starts at 7 p.m., includes a 6:30 p.m. reception with Federico Ceretto, the winery's owner. You can make a reservation through the restaurant.
