The anonymous Carroll Gardens hater who cannot tolerate the smell of roasting coffee from the 64-year-old D'Amico coffee shop will not stop complaining. This year they've called the DEP on the shop, called 311 on the shop, and even called the Fire Department on them. And really, anonymous hater, D'Amico's has gotten the message. And they're working on it. So take a deep breath (through your mouth).

As Pardon Me For Asking points out, the harassed shop has gone and put up another lengthy note to their anonymous neighbor in their front window begging them to calm down. Here's what the sign says:

OKAY YOU CAN STOP CALLING D.E.P. AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. WE GOT YOUR MESSAGE-

EVEN THOUGH THIS WILL END UP COSTING US THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS YOU HAVE GIVEN US NO CHOICE. WE HAVE LOOKED INTO THE NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS AND WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF CORRECTING THIS PROBLEM, IT WILL JUST TAKE A LITTLE TIME.

SO PLEASE STOP THE CALLS!!!!!

The fire dept. may miss a REAL call while coming here for a "false alarm". If you see smoke coming out of our chimney-call us. 718 875 5403

A visit to talk to us would have been the neighborly way to go, but unfortunately, that never happened.

I hope that you are as concerned about everything that takes place in OUR community!

Gotta love that passive-aggressive kicker. But can you blame them? The d'Amico family has been dealing with this anonymous hater for months now, and despite repeated requests on their part for the complainer to just come out and talk to them about it, the person just keeps lodging official complaints about a long-standing business. Not very neighborly.

Still, the shop does have one good point in its favor: the old school neighborhood is behind them. As Joan d'Amico points out to PMFA, the firefighters that keep getting called regarding the coffee roasting? They drink D'Amico coffee.
