Black Seed—they of the Montreal-style bagels—debuted a new bread product recently, house-baked rolls, which they're using to make some hearty-looking new sandwiches. All three locations are now selling sandwiches including the "Combo" ($10.50), an Italian-type sandwich with lots of meats; a Buffalo Cauliflower ($7.50) vegan sandwich with spicy cauliflower and herbed tofu cream cheese; and "The Chopped Cheese" ($10.50), their version of the zeitgeisty sandwich made with ground beef, sauteed onions and cheddar cheese.

If you find yourself hungry and in the vicinity of Times Square, head to 46th Street anywhere between Broadway to 10th Avenue to find the annual Taste of Times Square event taking place Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Local restaurants including Carmine's, Joe Allen Restaurant, Toloache, Becco, and, yes, Guy's American Kitchen & Bar, join a group of 50 selling "tastes" from their menus. Stop by any of the booths to grab a bite to eat ($1 - $6) or find the Beer Garden on Restaurant Row (46th between 8th and 9th Avenues) for some pours from Heartland Brewery. There will also be performances, swing dancing lessons, and other entertainment.

Head to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook on Thursday evening for the inaugural The WhiskyX event. There, you'll sip on bourbons, ryes, Scotch, Japanese and Irish whiskies from over 60 different brands, including local folks like Widow Jane. Organizers say food trucks will be on site as well, plus a cigar lounge, haircuts (best time to get a haircut: when you're drunk) by Blind Barber and also a performance by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. Tickets $50-75.

Also on Thursday, a Portugal Day Dinner at Aldea in the Flatiron, where Chef George Mendes welcomes Chef Abe Conlon of Chicago's Fat Rice for a one-night-only dinner dedicated to exploring the cuisine of Macau, which used to be part of the Portuguese empire. A wine and canapé reception begins the evening; followed by a four-course meal with dishes including octopus terrine, a heritage pork dish with smoked mussels, and a strawberry-based dessert. The $140 tickets including the reception, the wine-paired dinner, tax, and gratuity.
