City Bakery's ultra-earth-friendly bakery offshoot Birdbath has quietly opened the doors on a new location in the Grand Central-area. CEO and baked goods maestro Maury Rubin tells us this is the largest of the Birdbath locations to date and will offer some special breakfast and lunch treats available only at the new Midtown outpost.
First up, a sweet Cinnamon Toast offering that looks about 1,000% more decadent than the after school specials you may have whipped up in high school. For lunch, fluffy egg salad gets slathered on toast and topped with umami-rich anchovies for a protein-packed midday meal. Two other newer bakery options made the cut as well, including the Ersatz Deli Sandwich and the super healthy Pressed Veggie Sandwich stuffed with local carrots and beets, cucumbers and alfalfa sprouts, pumpkin seed spread and Pennsylvania-made Havarti cheese served on organic seeded bread.
Rubin also assured us the crave-worthy pretzel croissant will be available at the new location. For the time being the bakery operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
