Somewhere at home Anthony Bourdain probably has a stack of used-up passports. For the last 11 years, the author and TV host has made a career out of traveling the world, sampling local fare, and offering up his on-camera thoughts on everything from the Colombian drug trade to the ruined streets of Detroit. Now, he's bringing his latest show, an all-new live production, to Brooklyn.
It's just been announced that Bourdain will perform The Hunger at BAM in late November (just two days before Thanksgiving). The night's being billed as an "unyielding, brutally honest monologue reflecting on diverse culture, street cuisine, and his travels to lesser-known locations around the world." If you're hankering for stories of drinking too much moonshine whiskey made by Thai rice farmers, this one's for you.
The Hunger attendees will get to participate in a Q&A following the monologue, and copies of his brand new cookbook Appetites will be on sale as well. According to a release, Appetites is one of Bourdain's most personal books to date, and is "written with the no-holds-barred, no-bullshit-allowed ethos of his beloved series, Parts Unknown." If you can't make the Brooklyn date, Bourdain will also speak at the Union Square Barnes & Noble on October 25th.
Tickets for The Hunger at BAM don't go on sale until July 28th, but if you use the pre-sale code "BOURDAIN" you can purchase seats starting right now.
