The LIC Flea & Food has grown at a tidy clip since its first incarnation three years ago on the corner of 5th Street and 46th Avenue. The Queens market has held it down near the waterfront behind the Pepsi-Cola sign, bringing local LIC businesses of the food persuasion and more for weekend gatherings and vending.
This year, they're bringing in an all-Queens lineup of breweries to pour their special brews at an on-site beer garden. Singlecut, Queens Brewery, Rockaway Brewery and Finback are tapped to participate in the weekly beer garden, which will also include a selection of wines as well.
After imbibing a brew or two, check out this year's food vendors, which include Butcher Bar, selling barbecued brisket and The Bao Shoppe, both located in Astoria. Jessy's Pastries will be steaming up empanadas, Chuta Madre! will be preparing Ecuadorian sandwiches and Bundts NYC will be baking up bundt cakes, of course. These are just a selection of the nearly 80 vendors slated to be on hand, including others selling jewelry, clothing, vintage posters, art and lots more.
The market takes place in a 24,000 square foot lot owned by Plaxall, a local family business. It's not difficult to access, as the 7, E and G trains all stop nearby and it's a pretty walk along the water from where the East River Ferry lets out. The market opens for the season Saturday April 11th and Sunday, April 12th and runs each weekend beginning at 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
