Online retail giant Amazon has now expanded its offerings into grocery shopping, debuting their new delivery service today to lucky residents in Park Slope. And that's it. AmazonFresh, which hopes to take a bite out of grocery delivery giant Fresh Direct, is now available to Brooklyn's noisiest neighborhood (sorry Dumbo) free for anyone already ballin' with an Amazon Prime account. After that, it's a $299 Prime Fresh membership that bundles muffins with movies.

Like FreshDirect, AmazonFresh will offer quick delivery of a ton of different grocery and produce items. Price-wise, there are deals to be had on both services, depending on the item. A half gallon of Amish Farms milk runs for $4.49 on FreshDirect and $3.89 on Amazon, whereas one can procure a dozen eggs for $3.69 on FreshDirect, and a measly six for $3.19 on Amazon. Amazon does boast an additional, Seamless-type service, where you can order prepared meals from The Lobster Place, Dickenson's Farmstands Meats and Amy's Bread, for example.

Like their popular Prime program, the Fresh option can deliver the goods pretty quickly. They say if you order by 10 a.m., groceries can be delivered by dinner; order by 10 p.m. and they'll deliver in the early a.m. The pilot Park Slope program should herald more Brooklyn locales soon, presumably with options for other boroughs later. Jeez, Amazon, even startup grocer Instacart delivers to Queens.
