Our first four thoughts to play Moses? Clockwise from top left: Stanley Tucci, Frank Langella, Paul Giamatti, and Kevin Spacey. Who would you cast?

"Those who can, build," New York's controversial master builder Robert Moses once said. "Those who can't, criticize." And then there are those who fetishize powerful white father figures and make movies about them, like Oliver Stone. Which is to say, the controversial director has reportedly teamed up with HBO to produce a movie of Robert Caro's 1974 Pulitzer Prize-winning classic about Moses, The Power Broker. So who will play Moses?

Oliver Stone, no stranger to making movies about controversial figures, actually might be an interesting fit to make a movie about Moses, the man who created the Triborough Bridge, Jones Beach State Park, Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, West Side Highway, Long Island parkway system, Niagara and St. Lawrence power projects not to mention trying to tear down SoHo and other entire neighborhoods. Stone did, after all, make a not horrible movie about Richard Nixon. The TV-movie will be executive produced by Stone, Peter Guber and James Gandolfini and will be written by Nicholas Meyer (Collateral Damage).

As for who will star? Nobody is attached yet, which means its the perfect time to play fantasy casting! Our first thoughts went towards names like Paul Giamatti, Frank Langella or Kevin Spacey. Another option that could be interesting would be Michael Shannon, who certainly can do tall and imposing. Meanwhile Stu Loesser suggests Dan Doctoroff! But then we realized that if Stanley Tucci were to play the part then it would be perfect chance for him to team up again with Meryl Streep—she'd make an excellent Jane Jacobs! So, uh, HBO? Make it so.
