One of the greatest things about New York City is that when you're feeling stressed or broken or down, it will — even if it is responsible for provoking those feelings — lift you right back up again. And that happened last night for some people inside the Atlantic Ave-Barclays Center subway station, when a post-Celine Dion concert singalong spontaneously erupted. Dion fans, and those delighted by their passion, busted out not one, but two (and maybe more?) full songs after the singer's show at Barclays Center.
Natalie Grillo was one of them, and told Gothamist this morning, "Any time you leave a big concert venue you dread the massive crowds heading towards the subway. As I entered the Barclays station though to catch the N train, I immediately heard Celine’s music and my mood completely changed." Here's what she saw:
Grillo added, "All of these people who had just experienced the magic of Celine gathered to celebrate her music. We all got together to really belt 'My Heart Will Go On' ... With everything going on in the world this was just a great New York moment of humans coming together and it was pure bliss."
And it didn't stop there, the group also covered "It's All Coming Back To Me Now":
Like what you hear? Here's the extended cut:
As one witness noted, the moment was similar to a singalong that took place after Robyn played MSG last year (you can watch videos from that here).
And it looks like some fans were preparing for this moment for at least a week:
