All things must pass: longtime Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee, who is leaving the Comedy Central institution to helm her own TBS show, was given a very sweet sendoff from Jon Stewart last night. That included a long tribute to her best (and silliest) pieces on the show, and was capped off with Bee tearfully thanking Stewart before the audience.
Even when Stewart started his interview with Kristen Wiig (a.k.a. Khaleesi, a.k.a. Karen) in the next segment, it was clear that Bee's farewell had shaken him up. "It's killing me," Stewart said while stumbling around his feelings, ultimately settling on the word 'verklempt.'
