The ninth annual Tribeca Film Festival unveiled its full lineup today; this year the festival will present 85 feature-length and 47 short film selections from April 21st through May 2, 2010. Alex Gibney, whose Taxi to the Dark Side won the Oscar for best documentary in 2008, will bring My Trip to Al-Qaeda to the festival, as well as his work-in-progress, an untitled film about former Governor Eliot Spitzer. Neil Jordan's Ondine, which stars Colin Farrell as a fisherman who reels in a mermaid, will have its U.S. premiere, as will Michael Winterbottom's The Killer Inside Me, a "pulpy noir" starring Casey Affleck.
For the first time this year, film buffs can experience the festival without leaving their homes, through video-on-demand; more than 40 million households will be able to viddy 12 feature length films acquired by the recently launched Tribeca Film. Audiences nationwide will also be able to watch some of the films from this year’s TFF on the Internet through the Tribeca Film Festival Virtual (TFF Virtual). TFF Virtual will also feature panel discussions, Q&A's with filmmakers and actors, and kicks off with Edward Burns’s Nice Guy Johnny.
You can peruse the full roster of films here; single tickets go on sale for American Express Cardmembers on April 13th, for downtown residents on April 18, and for the general public on April 19th. ($16.00 for evening and weekend screenings and $8.00 for daytime weekday and late night screenings.) The festival kicks off on the 21st with the world premiere of, um, Shrek Forever After.
