You could compare waiting for a headliner to appear on stage to that of the shuttle train to Far Rockaway. Just when you think it’s nonexistent and not going to happen, it appears in all its glory. You’ve endured a few bruises fighting against intoxicated 16-year olds for the perfect viewing spot. You’ve even held off making a trip to the bar (or bathroom) for a refill. At the end of the day, you’ve got to admit that waiting for the legendary Shuggie Otis or indie-pop darlings The Bird and The Bee to come on stage beats impatiently waiting for the ghostly vehicle of doom that is the shuttle train. From underground DJs to musical icons, YPlan is here to satisfy your every live music desire. Get out there and dance!

1DjangoDjango.jpg

DJANGO DJANGO + BEAT CONNECTION
English upstarts Django Django bring their distinctive sound to Webster Hall along with Seattle's Beat Connection. Expect jangling guitars and '80s pop sensibilities as Django Django kick out the jams. The music press love 'em and you will too once you’ve heard their gorgeous harmonies and saccharine hooks.

Webster Hall hosts the British art rockers July 28th at 8pm. Get your tickets on YPlan.

2TuxedoMayerHawthorneJakeOne.jpg

TUXEDO: MAYER HAWTHORNE + JAKE ONE
With a Grammy nomination apiece, Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One mean business. Together they form Tuxedo, a funk outfit on a mission to make you boogie. Foot-stomping rhythms, slick production, and impressive dynamics make Tuxedo as sensational live as they are on record.

The tickets to the dynamic duo performance at Le Poisson Rouge at 9pm on July 20th are available on YPlan.

3Fontanas.jpg

FONTANA’S SUMMER FUNK FEST: THE NEPHROK! ALLSTARS, AFROSKULL + PHANTOM POP
No one knows why there's an exclamation mark in the midst of The Nephrok! Allstars. What is known is that the band create seriously funky jams that evoke Sly and The Family Stone in their pomp. Also laying down dope rhythms at Fontana's Summer Funk Fest are rhythmical rockers Afroskull and Brooklyn instrumentalists Phantom Pop.

The lively crew get funky with YPlan on July 31st, 8pm at the Lower East Side favorite Fontana’s.

4Technoir.jpg

TECHNOIR: MOVING CASTLE VIRTUAL SUMMER
Virtual Summer sees a host of big names line up to lay waste to the Slake dance floor. AObeats and Robokid top the bill, but there's also room for a DJ set from Hunt for the Breeze. Yung Wall Street and Alex English complete a night of hard-edged EDM.

The party gets started with YPlan at 10pm, July 25th at Slake.

5ShuggieOtis.jpg

SHUGGIE OTIS
If there's anything Shuggie Otis is known for (besides his iconic hairdo) it's his mastery of the blues guitar. The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist found his calling at age 13 with the help of his R&B bandleader father Johnny Otis. He wrote "Strawberry Letter 23" for the Brothers Johnson, landing the number five spot in 1977 pop charts. Tonight, he'll take you through his iconic album Inspiration Information and beyond.

The legend goes blues on YPlan at Brooklyn Bowl, July 24th at 10pm.

6DuelingPianos.jpg

SHAKE, RATTLE + ROLL: DUELING PIANOS
At first glance, piano-dueling sounds like something you’d dismiss as a novelty recreation. That'd be a mistake. For one thing, it started in 1930, making it way older than most music that's out now (looking at you, dubstep). And two, the contenders are boisterous, fun guys who elicit guffaws from every table. Best part? The democratic song selection and grub. Bring along a gourmand because the pizza is über good, well, according to the Today Show at least (no big deal).

The piano duelin’ begins with YPlan at 10pm on July 18th at The Cellar at 22 Warren Street.

7TheBird.jpg

THE BIRD + THE BEE
Great music doesn't call for great numbers. The Bird and the Bee are just two, but that's all they need to create perfect pop. Inara George and Greg Kurstin craft willfully awkward synth pop. Is it shoegaze? Psychedelic? Whatever. All that matters is it sure sounds lush.

The two songbirds get chirping at YPlanners on July 17th, 8pm at Grand Ballroom at Webster Hall.

8LiveConcert.jpg

LIVE CONCERT + FUNDRAISER: TANIA STAVREVA, PIANO RHYTHMIC MOVEMENT DEBUT ALBUM
Tania Stavreva's piano playing has had critics struggling to find new superlatives. Rest assured, the Bulgarian is very special indeed. This hour-long concert, to support her eagerly-anticipated debut album, will include works from Chopin and Russia's Nikolai Kapustin.

It’s about to get classic with YPlan on July 18th at 6:30pm at Brooklyn Heights’ The Drawing Room.

9TheEnglishBeat.jpg

ENGLISH BEAT
The Beat emerged from Birmingham, England, in the late '70s peddling an electrifying blend of reggae and pop. Fast forward a few decades and the band are still performing live as The English Beat. Charismatic frontman Dave Wakeling, aided by an accomplished ska backing band, will be performing all the hits of The Beat and General Public, with a few new songs thrown in for good measure.

Go back in time and rock out with YPlan 8pm on July 26th at City Winery SoHo.

10FullMoon.jpg

FULL MOON WARM-UP PARTY: MOULLINEX + BEN BROWNING OF CUT COPY
Whether or not you've heard of Moullinex, one thing's for certain: he's gonna make you dance. The sole mission of Portuguese Luis Clara Gomes' alter-ego is to evoke a sense of euphoria in crowds through his catchy disco and house mixes. He'll be joined alongside Ben Browning of successful Australian electronic band Cut Copy on his latest solo effort. Ayer also takes to the stage.

The YPlan eletronica madness starts at 8:30pm July 30th at Le Poisson Rouge.
