2007_05_steve_guttenberg.jpg Gutenberg! The Musical! may not have been about the Police Academy star, but tonight's installment of Inside Joke is. But before The Gute heads off to The UCB Theater to discuss the art of comedy, he sat down with Gothamist to discuss what he's hiding from TMZ.

You do quite a bit of work with the homeless and foster children. What attracted you to these two causes?
Years ago, I got involved with helping homeless people get ahead in life and from there I found out that many of the foster children who become emancipated found that they were having nowhere to live, so I took it upon myself to build a home for the kids. That's Guttenhouse, in South Central.

Celebrities now have to worry about embarrassing video leaking onto the Internet. What would you think if footage of you got posted on TMZ and what sort of footage would it be?
I hope it happens to me. That'd be great. It's probably going to be me eating some sort of ice cream or candy, which I never do. That'll get a few hundred hits.

What clip from your career would you like played at the Oscars after you pass away in their tribute to the deceased?
I would hope it's a clip from a great movie that I'll do many, many years from now.

Were you aware that there's a whole site of Steve Guttenberg Facts similar to the Chuck Norris Facts that everyone was spouting? They contain such gems as, "Steve Guttenberg walked into a lady's washroom once because the doors were only labeled with the words 'Kats' and 'Nats'."
I didn't know that, but I've been in a lot of ladies rooms. But I usually walk in because I want to walk in.

What are some projects that you're currently involved in and how about the rumors about Police Academy 8?
I'm writing a drama about Katrina and a comedy about law school, which was inspired by a friend of mine who's an attorney who you'd never think would be an attorney. The drama will be based on my experiences helping at the Astrodome. As far as Police Academy goes, they're developing it and I think they're probably going to put it together.

Please share your strangest "only in New York" story.
My meeting with a very important director at the Sherry Netherland hotel who interviewed me in a movie while sitting in his underwear.

Which New Yorker do you most admire?
Favorite New Yorker has to be Yogi Berra.

Given the opportunity, how would you change New York?
Never change New York

Under what circumstance have you thought about leaving New York?
I would never leave NY, unless I got a good deal on a condo in Red Hook.

What's your idea of a perfect day of recreation in New York?
Morning in Central Park, afternoon at MOMA and evening in the Village.
