The Seaport Music Festival has had one of the city's most picturesque outdoor venues since it all started in 2002. With a stage situated on Pier 17 overlooking the East River—the Brooklyn Bridge to the left of the stage, those gorgeous old ships behind it, and the audience watching from the wooden pier. Even during crowded shows it was easy to find some space of your own with a nice waterfront breeze. But now with the area being redeveloped, what will happen?
The good news is the concert series will go on, and this morning organizer Stephen Dima told us, "During the redevelopment, the stage will be located on Fulton Street playing down towards South Street and the pier. Basically the back of the stage will be at Water Street, the entrance." The intersection of Fulton and South Streets will be the way back, furthest from the stage. This is the first year the stage has been relocated, and it's planned to return once the pier reopens.
They've just announced the lineup, and there will be eight Friday night shows in July and August:
July 11th: Protomartyr, Alvvays
July 18th: Calvin Love, las Rosas
July 25th: Torres
August 1st: Snowmine, The Casket Girls
August 8th: Black Bananas, Shockwave Riderz
August 15th: Boogarins, Jacco Gardner
August 22nd: Dead Gaze
August 29th: Joanna Gruesome, Big Ups
