Last year, Katharine Harmon released You Are Here: NYC: Mapping the Soul of the City, which collected 200 maps created between 1600 and 2015 that showed the myriad number of ways one could begin to approach "mapping the soul" of NYC. Now, Harmon has brought those maps to Pratt Manhattan Gallery for a special exhibition running through November.

The exhibit, similar to the book, is titled You Are Here NYC: Art, Information, and Mapping, and showcases 19 cartography-based works. That includes several of the artists from the book, as well as three commissioned pieces by Christine Gedeon, Ekene Ijeoma, and Doug McCune which were "based on census information about immigrants in the city, as well as a range of existing artworks in multiple media forms."

According to a press release, "Using cartographic concepts, contributing artists and information designers will consider the place on the map where information visualization is an artistic endeavor, and where artworks convey information."

The exhibit runs through November 15th; there will be a panel discussion on Tuesday, Nov 14th at 6:30 p.m. moderated by Jessie Braden that includes artists Doug McCune, Jer Thorp, and Sarah Williams. You can get more information about the exhibit and the gallery here. And for more on the book that inspired the show, step right this way.

Pratt Manhattan Gallery, 144 West 14th St, New York, NY, Second Floor; Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday until 8 p.m.
