New York City, we did it! We managed to start 2012 off on a truly singular note: Lady Gaga and Mayor Bloomberg smooched on national television. During her performance for Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve, Lady Gaga also wore a bizarre cage-like apparatus over her head, echoing the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball.
Bloomberg and Gaga also danced, in the mayor's apparent bid to appeal to Little Monsters. Other Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve performers include Pitbull and Justin Bieber and Santana, while Drake and the Roots were on NBC's Carson Daly New Year's show.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly was guessing that last night's turnout in Times Square may have been the biggest ever. A tourist from Boise, Idaho told the Post, "I’ve been out here since two, but it’s fine. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else on New Year’s but Times Square."
