Louis C.K.'s strange little surprise...dramady?...Horace & Pete is over, according to an email the comedian sent fans today.

"So. That was it. I didn’t want to say, in the last email, that it was the last episode. Because I didn’t want you to know, as you watched the episode, that it would be the last one," C.K. wrote. "But yeah, obviously, That was it."

The 10-episode show made a surprise launch in January, and was available to purchase on louisck.net. C.K. financed the show himself, initially laying out $2 million to get the first four episodes off the ground. Not enough people tuned in, though, and he had to take out a line of credit to keep it going—he told Howard Stern this week that he's now "millions of dollars in debt."

In his email, C.K. implored fans to buy the whole season. "So now the show is finished. It’s complete. Now I’ll go and tell the world about it, and ask them to come see what we made," he wrote. "Thank you again to those of you who watched with us as we made it. To those of you who haven’t, I can tell you, now that it’s done, it’s a fucking good show. It really is."

The show, which co-starred Steve Buscemi, Alan Alda, Edie Falco, and Aidy Bryant, did get good reviews, though C.K. warned early on not to expect it to be a comedy. " I dunno what it is. It can be funny. And also not. Both," he wrote when he released the second episode. "I believe that 'funny' works best in its natural habitat. Right in the jungle along with 'awful', 'sad', 'confusing' and 'nothing'."

You can purchase the show for $31 on C.K.'s website.
