Foo Fighters Will Play First Full-Capacity Show At Madison Square Garden Since Start Of Pandemic

It's now been over 15 billyjoels [one billyjoel=30 human days] since any artist played a show to a live audience inside historic Madison Square Garden—not counting the halftime entertainment at Knicks games, of course—but that dark period is about to come to an end. And while the real Billy Joel, the mayor of MSG, won't be the one to bring it back after approximately 460 music-free days, the equally-beloved Foo Fighters will do so this month.
The Foo Fighters will perform the first 100% capacity concert at MSG—which will also be the first full-capacity concert at any New York arena since March 2020—on June 20th, a.k.a. Father's Day. All attendees have to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
“We’ve been waiting for this day for over a year,” said Dave Grohl. “And Madison Square Garden is going to feel that HARD. New York, get ready for a long ass night of screaming our heads off together to 26 years of Foos."
The last regular show at MSG was a celebration of the Allman Brothers Band on March 10th, 2020.
“The Garden is ready to rock,” MSG chairman/CEO James Dolan said in a statement. “We’ve been waiting for this moment for 15 months and are excited to finally welcome a packed house of roaring, fully-vaccinated Foo Fighters fans to Madison Square Garden.”

The concert and music industry has been heating up in recent weeks. While a lot of bands are holding off their tours until the fall, some classic NYC festivals such as SummerStage and Celebrate Brooklyn! will have free shows in parks throughout the summer. Governor's Ball will be back in September, and new venues including Brooklyn Made are getting ready to launch.
On Monday, Bruce Springsteen announced that his Broadway show Springsteen On Broadway would return to the St. James Theatre on June 26th with a string of performances through September 4th.
And The Strokes also announced Tuesday that they'll perform an in-person concert on Saturday, June 12th, at Irving Plaza as part of a Maya Wiley fundraiser. All attendees must have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. You can get more info about tickets here.
