Today we stumbled upon this nearly 9-minute video full of raw footage from the 1980s, where the uploader puts the focus on the "noisy city" sounds. From sirens to car horns to jackhammers, it may seem like nothing much has changed, but it sort of has. Things are a little bit more peaceful now, believe it or not—construction equipment and cars have gotten quieter, and we have a noise code (updated in 2007 for the first time in 30 years), even if it's not always enforced.
Anyway, this could put many New Yorkers to sleep faster than a white noise machine and a Klonopin. Turn it up to 11 and enjoy the sights and sounds of 1988, with some opening shots around the dreaded Port Authority Bus Terminal.
