Much to do this weekend. Much to do.

Bad WizardRothko, recently overhauled and much improved, has been on a roll as of late--if you can actually get in the door. Tomorrow night, there's yet another great show at the Lower East Side club: Bad Wizard and the Izzys. As is always the case, expect a lot of amped-up '70s rock, beer, whiskey and wailing guitar solos when the mighty Bad Wizard takes the stage. It's a Spin invite-only party, so start calling in all your favors to people who can hook you up.

Rhett Miller's solo career is either on hold or gone for good, so he and the Old 97s are free to tour and release albums just like the good ol' days. They play Irving Plaza on Thursday and Friday. Somebody yell out a request for "Barrier Reef" for Coolfer, huh?

On Friday night, the incredibly prolific Madlib stops by Southpaw in Park Slope along with Peanut Butter Wolf and Blu Jemz.

At the Knitting Factory, there's a show called "Urgh! The War to End All Wars" on both Friday and Saturday. On the bill Friday are the Rogers Sisters, Dalek, Shy Child, Dirty on Purpose and Parts and Labor. On Saturday they've got Oneida, the Figgs, Beans, Oxford Collapse, King of France and The Spunklads.

The Fiery Furnaces have confused a lot of people with their record Blueberry Boat. Some love it, some hate it, some just don't get it, some are on the fence. They play the Bowery Ballroom on Saturday. This should be interesting. White Magic, on Drag City Records, is also on the bill. Beware: this show is sold out. Try Craigs List, or hang out on the sidewalk and hunt for extras.

Others:

- Ace Fu Records Chinatown BBQ at Delancey, Thursday
- Bright Eyes at Northsix, Thursday (sould out)
- Nick Lowe at Bowery Ballroom, Thursday
- Burnside Project at Pianos, Thursday
- Star Spangles at CBGB, Friday
- Sam Champion at Freddy's Bar & Backroom, Friday
- Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings at Sin-e, Saturday
