Nail clipping has been a bane of NYC subway riders since the dawn of the nail clipper. But did you realize some people are using their nail clippers on the subway to clip away their dead skin? Can the MTA make a new sign for that?
Nathan Southfield caught this man grooming his hands on a Brooklyn-bound Q train last month, "The friend I was with pointed it out to me and at first I was disgusted because why would someone clip their nails on a subway? But then I realized he was clipping his skin so I was even more grossed out!"
Other subway riders noticed, too, and were disgusted. Southfield added, "He kept surreptitiously looking around, I guess to see if anyone noticed him."
"I think nails are 1000 times worse," our own Chris Robbins opined. "We all shed skin all the time." That's fine, but we don't have to watch someone do it ON THE SUBWAY WE SHARE. Go home and gross out your roommate or family—please, not us.
