Police are searching for a man who attacked a woman seemingly at random on a Brooklyn sidewalk earlier this month.
The NYPD has released security camera video showing the disturbing assault, which took place at 12:10 p.m. on March 9th, at the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Crown Street in Crown Heights: A 27-year-old woman walks onto a sidewalk from the street and a man approaches her and suddenly punches her in the face with his right hand.
The suspect walked away, according to police. The victim, who fell to the ground, drove herself to Kingsbrook Hospital for pain to her head.
Images of the suspect, who is described as being about 40 years old and 5'10" with black facial hair, were released; Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,500. He was last seen wearing a navy blue jacket with a white stripe depicting the word "Yale," a black wool hat, blue jeans, and black sneakers.
Anyone with information in regard to this assault is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, on Twitter @NYPDTips or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
