Sketchy Interviews is a recurring series on Gothamist featuring visual interviews with some of the best illustrators, cartoonists and graphic artists working in the city today. We previously talked to New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast, Broad City animator/cartoonist Mike Perry, All The Restaurants In New York artist John Donohue, and cartoonist Julia Wertz.
This week, we spoke to cartoonist Mort Gerberg, who has been documenting life in New York City, the fight for women's rights, politics, the Miracle Mets, the minutiae of aging and everything in between in cartoons and illustrations which have appeared in the likes of the New Yorker and Saturday Evening Post. Through May 5th, the New-York Historical Society is hosting a retrospective of Gerberg's work; the exhibit comes in conjunction with a new retrospective book, Mort Gerberg On the Scene: A 50-Year Cartoon Chronicle. You can get more information about the exhibit and the book from the NYHS here.
